Home Learning: Day 39

Hello, Beech class!

Today is the last day to send in things if you would like them to definitely be included in tomorrow’s post! I know you’ve all worked really hard so do send them in so that we can celebrate your work!

Today’s learning

Your latest Oak National Academy maths lesson is ready to go click here to get started. Once you’ve done the introductory quiz remember to close the quiz and move onto the next activity.

English and Reading

Chapter 4 of The Sleeping Volcano is ready to read!

It was a woman, and behind her glasses, her eyes were as cold as her voice. “How did you get in here? This is a restricted area!” she said icily.

Use your persuasive writing techniques to get people interested in The Volcano Experience.

Day 39

Further reading

J K Rowling has created a new book! She had the idea for The Ickabog a long time ago, but she never finished writing the story. However, it is now finished and is being published for free on this website. She has been uploading a chapter or two every day. It not like Harry Potter – it doesn’t have any magic, but I’ve heard good things so far! Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!

…and, a chance to become a book illustrator

Calling all budding artists! J.K. Rowling is inviting you to help illustrate The Ickabog for her. As new chapters of the story are uploaded, she will be making suggestions for what you might like to draw or paint to illustrate the story. Let your imagination run wild!

The best bit is, if you are between seven and twelve years old, you can enter your drawings or paintings into a competition being run by J.K. Rowling’s publishers. A once in a lifetime chance to be featured in The Ickabog book!

If you are interested, visit the website for more details on how to enter the competition.

Here is this week’s virtual spelling test!

WARNING! I misspelt one of the words! A bonus point to anyone who can find the word I spelt incorrectly (and another one if you can guess what might have led me to make that mistake)! When you feel ready for the test, have a go!

Other weekly work

Don’t forget to crack on with history and TTRS revision!

Take care,
