Home School: Day 12

Hello, Beech class!

Welcome back to your second day of home school. I’m glad to see that some of you have managed to get into google classroom to start on your history!

Today’s maths has been set on My Maths and is called ‘subtraction columns’.

Please go through the lesson activities and complete the questions – don’t forget to press ‘mark it!’.

Create your very own superhero. Draw them in your book, give them a name and then label them, describing their appearance and powers.

Here is an example:

The Settlers final chapter / book review

It’s time to read the final chapter of The Settlers! What an exciting read it has been.  There is the usual quiz to complete but you also have the opportunity to write a book review in your 2dos on Purple Mash.  Don’t forget that every week, Ms Malanaphy and Ms Smy are always on the look out for book reviews to add to the weekly Dunraven Newsletter.  The Book Trust has a useful guide on how to write a book review.

Day 12

BBC Bitesize

BBC Bitesize is now offering a daily schedule of lessons and activities on their website.  Many of these are fun and interactive, but also stick closely to the National Curriculum to ensure a good coverage.

Summer term maths

At this stage in the year, we would usually be learning about fractions.

The NCETM are offering fantastic online video lessons on their website and have produced a great series of lessons on fractions for year 3 here:

This set of video lessons are taught by Mr East!  The lessons are 20 minutes long (plus added time for pausing and thinking).  Feel free to check this out!

Oak National Academy

Alternatively, Oak National Academy lessons are really interactive and user-friendly.  Here are some great lessons for Year 3 on fractions:

First News

Before the Easter holidays, I sent out a copy of First News.  How many of you read it? There is a new edition complete with fun activities to complete with it.  Let me know at year3@dunraven.org.uk if you would like me to send out the most recent edition via Google Classroom as I have no idea how many people read it last time!

Here is the front page of this week’s edition:
