Home School: Day 4

Hello, Beech class, and welcome to your fourth day of home school – you have almost completed your very first week of home school! Thank you to the children who completed their work online or shared it with me via email – it’s great to see how you’re all getting on! I will be sharing a selection of your work tomorrow so please do send things to me in good time!

Today’s learning

Today’s maths has been set on My Maths and is called ‘Adding number lines’.

Please go through the lesson activities and complete the questions – please don’t forget to press ‘mark it!’.

Today’s English has been set on Purple Mash and is called ‘Consonant or vowel’.

We use the word ‘an’ before a word if the word begins with a vowel. Vowel sounds are usually made by the letters a, e, i, o and u.

For example:

an apple

an orange

We use the word ‘a’ before a word if the word begins with a consonant sound. Consonant sounds are made by all the other letters (i.e. all the letters that are not vowels).

For example:

a banana

a pear

However, sometimes, if a consonant letter is silent – which means that we don’t pronounce the letter – we would use ‘an’.

For example:

A hot day (we pronounce the ‘h’ in hot)

An hour (we do not pronounce the ‘h’ in hour)

David Walliams’ World’s Worst Children

We absolutely loved reading David Walliam’s book ‘The World’s Worst Children’ for World Book Day and now David Walliams is uploading an audio version of each of the stories onto his website at 11 o’clock every day! What a treat!  Here is the link: https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/

Perhaps some of you will be inspired to come up with another World’s Worst Child at home and write a new story!

Joe Wicks is carrying on with his daily PE lessons on his YouTube channel at at 9:00 am today!

Day 4

Ongoing weekly work

Don’t forget to continue working on your times tables on Times Tables Rockstars; to do your spelling on Purple Mash; and to carry out your science experiment.

As always, please do e-mail me at year3@dunraven.org.uk if you want to share some of your learning or need any help!

Take care,

Mr. Oyewole
