Hello, Beech class, and welcome to your third day of home school. Thank you to the children who completed their work online or shared it with me via email – it’s great to see how you’re all getting on! I will be sharing a selection of your work on Friday so please do send things in!
Today’s maths has been set on My Maths and is called ‘Subtract single digits’.
Please go through the lesson activities and complete the questions – please don’t forget to press ‘mark it!’. I can see that some of you have logged on, but forgot to press ‘mark it!’ and so your work was not saved!
Today’s English has been set on Purple Mash and is called ‘Frank’s Clever Window’. This time, you must drag verbs to prefixes to make new words.
a prefix is a letter or group of letters that are added to the beginning of a word to create a new word with a new meaning.
mis + aim = misaim – to not aim properly
mis + use = misuse – to not use something properly
mis + treat = mistreat – to not treat something properly
in + active = inactive – to not be active
dis + arm = disarm – to take away weapons (‘arm’ is another word for ‘weapon’)
dis + orderly – to not be organised (‘orderly’ is another words for ‘organised’)
Today’s activity is timed and quite tricky so you might just want to do it in your exercise book. Also, sometimes you may need to swap answers around – not because they are wrong, but because the website would prefer you to do it in a specific order! However, if you want to challenge yourself, you can do it on the website! As always, you can have a practice here first and write the answers in your books so that when you need to sort the words into their boxes, you can do this quickly.
Here are the pages followed by yesterday’s answers:
Jane went to the supermarket to buy some antifreeze and some superglue.
While she was there, she saw on the television that a superhero was signing autographs at the local computer shop.
She went to get an autograph and she also bought a copy of his autobiography and a microchip for her laptop. It would help build a supercomputer.
Joe Wicks is carrying on with his daily PE lessons on his YouTube channel at at 9:00 am today!
Here is some handwriting you could do today:
Ongoing weekly work
Don’t forget to continue working on your times tables on Times Tables Rockstars, to do your spelling on Purple Mash and your science experiment.
As always, please do e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to share some of your learning or need any help! I will be sharing work from children at the end of the week!
