It’s been a great start to year 3 so far and absolutely wonderful to hear about what families got up to over the summer break. The children in Beech are looking especially smart in their new shirts and ties!
We’ve been busy this week reminding ourselves of routines around the school as well as how to present our work. In English, we started to learn about paragraphs and had a close look at the cover image from our new class text (more to be revealed next week…).
A letter with detailed information about year 3 will be coming out next week, but in the meantime, here are some useful bits to know:
PE will take place on Wednesday mornings. To maximise lesson time, please send your child in to school wearing their PE kit. They will need to bring in their full uniform in their bag. If it’s cold outside, please get them to wear tracksuit bottoms.
Parent reading mornings will now be held on Wednesdays though, due to timetabling, will only happen every other week. Beech’s first reading morning will take place on Wednesday September 18th. Please come along if you can.
This week, an activity on number and place value has been set on MyMaths, the online portal. Letters have gone out with a reminder of each pupil’s login details. Please make sure to press the ‘mark it’ button so that the work gets handed in.
Spellings this week are homophones and near homophones. Please have a go at practising them using the look, say, cover, write, check method.
To show you understand their meaning, please put each one into a sentence and write them out as neatly as you can in your homework book. Spellings will be tested each Wednesday, when homework books are also due in.
Have a wonderful weekend!
